Captain Jeff Watson
From the moment Captain Jeff received his first rod and reel at age three, his passion for fishing was ignited. Raised on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and the offshore canyons of Ocean City, Maryland, Jeff was making headlines by five for his catches and soon mastered the art of reeling in pelagic species like Marlin, Tuna, and Wahoo. For Jeff, fishing was more than a hobby; it was a pursuit that led him from the secluded ponds in search of bass to the expansive offshore waters for big game fish.
Throughout his college years in Rhode Island, Jeff expanded his angling skills to include New England’s Striped Bass and Sea Bass, working at a local marina to deepen his knowledge and experience. His passion followed him to Jacksonville Beach, Florida, where he honed his craft in both inshore and offshore fishing, engaging in everything from bottom fishing for Grouper and Snapper to trolling for Tuna and Mahi.
In 2017, Jeff ventured into charter fishing alongside his corporate career, further exploring the waters of the Indian River Lagoon and family trips to Vero Beach. His journey led him to St. Thomas, USVI, in 2019, where he took the helm as a full-time charter captain on the fishing vessel Backlash.
For Captain Jeff, fishing transcends the act of catching fish; it’s a spiritual connection with nature, a way to immerse in the marine environment’s beauty, share laughter, stories, and escape life’s stresses, even if just for a moment.
Captain Hugo Prada
Originally from Argentina, Capt. Hugo grew up fishing the South Atlantic for bottom fish and occasionally chasing golden Dorados along the Paraná River. His childhood summers were spent up north, pulling lobster traps with family.
Capt. Hugo moved to the States for further education after finishing school in Argentina, earning a degree in Oceanography from the Florida Institute of Technology. During this time, he also became a scuba diving instructor, working across various islands. While in Bermuda he was introduced to commercial fishing, where he quickly learned to fish for wahoo on the Argus Bank, all while eyeing the marlin boats in the deeper waters, dreaming of joining them.
In the early 2000s, Capt. Prada headed to the US Virgin Islands, aiming to join tournament boats. His persistence on the docks paid off, allowing him to fish the famed North Drop with renowned captains and mates.
After a stint back in Argentina, where he dabbled in entrepreneurship, the call of the sea brought Capt. Hugo back to St. Thomas. Despite a delay due to the global pandemic, he returned to what he loves most—charter fishing in the beautiful waters of St. Thomas, where he’s been ever since.
Captain KJ Terry
Captain KJ Terry’s journey into the world of fishing began in the tranquil waters of South Central Arkansas, a place where his childhood was filled with the simple joys of reeling in bass and catfish from the local ponds and creeks. This early passion for angling laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong pursuit. It was a twist of fate that brought KJ to the vibrant shores of St. Thomas five years ago, but it was the allure of the island’s vibrant lifestyle and the rich diversity of its marine life that convinced him to call it home.
Since embracing the island life, Captain KJ has quickly made a name for himself in the competitive fishing scene of St. Thomas. In just half a decade, he has distinguished himself with impressive victories in local tournaments, claiming top honors in not one, but two Wahoo tournaments, alongside similar triumphs in Mahi and Kingfish competitions. These achievements are a testament to his skill, dedication, and deep understanding of the local waters and their inhabitants.
For those looking to experience the thrill of fishing in St. Thomas, Captain KJ Terry stands out as a true professional in the field. His expertise, honed both in the freshwater challenges of his youth and the dynamic marine environment of the Caribbean, ensures an unforgettable adventure on the water. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the sport, a day out fishing with Captain KJ is guaranteed to be filled with excitement, learning, and, of course, plenty of fish.

We fish in MN for walleye and this was our first experience with these fish! Jeff was so fun and we got a wahoo even with a shark chasing while we reeled in and some barracudas.
